Braking distances and decelerations were measured, and stability and incidence of wheel locking were evaluated; most tests were carried out by attempting to brake as heavily as possible without locking wheels; some locked wheel braking tests were carried out for comparison; it is concluded that frontto-rear brake ratio equal to weight distribution of vehicle at deceleration of 1 g when lightly loaded is necessary if cars are to remain stable when heavily braked on all surfaces.
