Situated at 30 km from Brest (France), airport has 2700×45 m wide main runway, 2700×22.5 m wide auxiliary runway, and system of 15 m wide service roads, all consisting of 30 cm thick concrete paving on compacted sub-base; runways were built using Rex slip-forming machine; experience with this machine proved that sliding formwork can be used for building very wide runways, provided certain simple precautions are taken.
