Procedure for computing average submergence time of bow (or any selected point), and average number of slams according to definition given; use is made of alternative representation of W.J.PIERSON's random process model of sea surface and B.V.KORVIN-KROUKOVSKY's equations of response of ship to regular sea; example of application of technique to Series 60 model (0.60 block coefficient).
