Analysis develops relations describing interaction phenomena where both potential and viscous effects are important, using momentum relations and actuator-disk representation of propeller; thrust deduction and efficiency are found to be functions of both velocity in propeller plane and ultimate wake velocity; these velocity ratios have opposite effects on thrust deduction; with simplifying assumption of uniform velocity and pressure in propeller plane, simple algebraic expressions for thrust deduction and ideal efficiency are obtained as functions of thrust coefficient.
