Study of operating units has shown three highly important considerations; braking system which is adequate in design and capacity for rated load of each individual vehicle unit; proper adjustment and maintenance of brakes of entire train so that each bears its proper share of braking load; and operation control so that concentration of brake load is not too heavy upon any individual drum or axle.
