Beryllium used as structural component in operational aerospace vehicle; assembly produced by Brush Beryllium Co, Cleveland, is replacing aluminum spacer in Minuteman missile; spacer has resulted in weight saving of more than 50%, and it has withstood loads 25 to 50% greater than those experienced at launch and in flight; beryllium must now be considered for wide range of structural applications in aerospace as well as in other fields.
