Engine is 12-cyl, turbocharged, four-stroke, trunk-piston unit, intended for operation on boiler oil and producing some 10,200 bhp at 460 rpm with weight of only 110 tons; initially it is offered for marine propulsion at continuous service rating of 765 bhp but is intended for 855 bhp at speed of 460 rpm; 18-cyl vee-type engine of this type could deliver 15,300 bhp with bedplate length of 8700 mm and weight of 160 tons; two such engines developing together 30,600 bhp could meet propulsion requirements of tankers up to about 300,000 tons and of most container ships.
