Empirical formula for fundamental torsional frequency of series of steam turbine blades was developed using results from tests on 72 steel blades of mean length from 2 in. to 16 in.; it is suggested that similar method can be used for higher modes and for any other group of solid aerofoils, e.g., series of ships or aircraft propellers, compressor blades, guide vanes, etc.
