Proteus 705 is reverse flow propeller turbine and has 12-stage axial plus 1-stage centrifugal compressor; eight combustion chambers arranged radially around compressor; incorporates Bristol "free turbine" system in which one turbine drives compressor and another drives propeller; engine delivers 3320 shp plus 1200-lb jet thrust for takeoff; photographs, cutaway drawings.
