Barges built by Consolidated Western Steel Corp at Orange, Tex; at dock site barge drops round 6 × 100 ft steel caissons through holes in structure and proceeds to jack itself to elevation above ocean high tide or flood level of river; typical barge was towed across 3000 mi of ocean to ore shipping point of Orinoco River in Venezuela.
