There is considered the problem of creation of the relative humidity and air temperature sensor for automated road weather stations. The process of the device development is described from the moment of creation of capacitive sensitive element up to the moment of final calibration and drawing of graduated curves family. There are considered such present-day problems as sensor operation at negative temperatures and detection of water vapor micro concentrations. It is made a conclusion regarding necessity of artificial ageing processes not only at increased relative humidity and temperature but also at negative temperatures.
