This article presents the study of terrorism in the maritime sector, from a normative standpoint, which is regulated by an international treaty called “Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against the Safety of Maritime Navigation” or “SUA Convention”. Firstly, the most important clauses of the treaty defining the acts of maritime terrorism, as well as its history and scope are analyzed. Next, the most significant cases of terrorist attacks at sea that fit the codes the SUA Convention are exposed.
