The derailment accident of the train caused by the too big crosswind was often occurred in the world. It was a serious danger to the running safety of the railway train and the people's life and treasure. The highest running speed of the EMU has reached 350 km/h and the biggest wind speed nearly 30 m/h at the running area of the EMU, so me running safety was influenced by the crosswind seriously. The running safety of the EMU under the function of aerodynamic side force, lift force and rolling moment was researched based on the EMU dynamic model. The influence of the mild wind (15 m/s) and the gust crosswind (25 m/s) to the EMU was researched. Simulation results shown that the crosswind not only has a big influence to the wheel set lateral force, derailment coefficient but also has a big influence to the wheel load decrease rate. With the increase of running speed, the running safety of the EMU has turned worse and easy lead to derailment. The running speed of the EMU must decrease to avoid the derailment from the point view of wheel load reduction rate. The gust crosswind has a bigger influence than the mild wind and the front vehicle was much influenced by the crosswind than the other vehicles.
