This paper dealt with a systematic research on track irregularities power spectrum density (PSD) based on a 3-D nonlinear vehicle-track interaction program developed by finite element method (FEM) and wheel-rail coupling model. Apart from the validation of the dynamic model, a unified formula for fitting track irregularities PSD of Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway (WG-HSR) was proposed and the characteristic parameters for WG-HSR average track irregularities PSD were obtained. By referring to previous researches, the method for obtaining track irregularities PSD with probabilistic characteristics was developed. In addition, track irregularities boundary PSDs representing the critical conditions for running safety, stability, and comfort of vehicle-track system were studied including the strategies and results.
