The 2nd Asian Youth Games (AYG) was held in Nanjing in 2013. During the event, some temporary traffic management measures were taken in order for traffic arising from the Games and urban commuting traffic to run in good condition. However, these measures may bring inconvenience to travelers, so it is necessary to publicize traffic information to reduce negative impacts on travelers. Traffic information publicity for the Games was studied in this paper. Travelers' information demand and desirable publicity methods were analyzed based on theories and a survey conducted before the AYG. In this paper, two types of travelers (audience of the Games and ordinary residents of Nanjing) were concerned. Then, the performance of traffic information publicity was evaluated and conclusions were obtained. Moreover, improvements of traffic information publicity which could be applied in the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games were developed.
