Vehicle bumping at bridge-head widely exists at roadbed-bridge transition section and directly affects traffic safety. In this study, the mechanism of vehicle bumping at bridge-head was studied to find out quantitative indexes of bridge that caused the vehicle bumping at bridge-head by the roots. Secondly, on the basis of the mathematical relationship between bridge indexes and velocity difference, deceleration was selected as the parameter of traffic flow to evaluate traffic safety. Finally, the evaluation criterion of traffic safety and threshold value of each safety level was raised. Thus, the impact of vehicle bumping at bridge-head on traffic safety could be evaluated directly by bridge indexes.
