Dislocations span over distances that are much larger than the interatomic distance b . Therefore, an asymptotic expansion of dislocation energy E as b 0 is of interest. In this paper, such asymptotic expansion is constructed. It has a simple form of E / b 2 = A ln ( L / b ) + B , where A and B are the functionals of the dislocation line (which do not depend on b ) and L is the dislocation length. Analytical formulas for A and B are obtained.
