The objective to reduce greenhouse gas emissions has driven significant change in the 21 st century to move from conventional vehicles powered by fuel to Electric Vehicles (EVs). Expansion in the EV industry calls for setting up scalable and sustainable infrastructure for charging EVs. The planning, design, and operation of EV charging stations is a complicated problem relating to the convolution of the road and electric distribution system. In this paper, the location of EV stations is planned with the objective function as cost. A novel method named Modified Direct Search (MDS) is devised as a solution to this complex problem. The efficacy of this method is tested on a test network with a 25 node road network and IEEE 33 bus distribution network.
