Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have promising role in a large operation zone with missions to accomplish complex tasks particularly for the region that are reasonably isolated from the ground. The use of multi‐UAVs requires cooperation with each‐other UAVs and need a quick & easy deploying network system. The network‐based UAVs reduce the operation accomplishment time and increase reliability of the system for airborne operations when compared to a single‐UAV system. Communication is one of the most challenging issues for network‐based UAV systems. Among many design challenges for multi‐UAV systems communication remains crucial to provide cooperation and collaboration between the UAVs. To apply networking in non‐line of sight urban aggressive and noisy environment multi‐UAVs is very effective and accurate. With the rapid development in wireless ad hoc networks that do not rely on any pre‐existing infrastructure multi‐UAVs provide efficient communication capabilities. The network‐based UAV system consisting of a swarm of flying devices connected with each other and forming an ad hoc network is called Flying Ad Hoc Network (FANET). The FANETs have recently captured the attention of reserachers due to the flying nature of entities in the network. This chapter discusses the role of multi‐UAVs in various scenarios (FANET MANET and VANET) including their potentials in communications.
