This chapter analyzes the possible impacts of the new heavier trucks. It reviews the complexity of increasing the truck weight limits. The new weight limits increase strain on the truck frame, which typically means some increases on the weight of trucks themselves, because of stronger materials. The changes in the gross weight of trucks also have an impact on the number of axles of trucks and the assemblies of tires. At the moment, the Finish road freight sector prefers single tires, but the new increase will force the road freight sector to use more double tires, which increases the weight of the trucks. The chapter concentrates on the road freight transports that are operated with full weight capacity. All the estimated benefits of new larger trucks are dependent on the total decrease in total driven mileage, which here depends on how well transport companies can utilize the increased load capacity.
