The power distribution function consists of safely providing users with hydraulic power in whatever form they request, as a function of available sources and priorities. This function is implemented by associating, often dedicated, components and arranging them in generic configurations. This chapter introduces and details these arrangements and the components they rely on. The fluid is transported between sources and hydraulic power users by lines that are interconnected to the equipment by fittings or connectors. It is crucial to be able to isolate components or parts of hydraulic circuits, so as to avoid leakage and fatigue. Protections such as overload protections and over‐consumption protections, and against cavitation and desorption, are crucial because they assume safety functions. Indeed, they safeguard against consequences on performances and lifespan that follow from abnormal levels of pressure, force, flow and volume.
