This chapter investigates the prescribed performance control with guaranteed string stability for uncertain third‐order nonlinear vehicle platoons subject to actuator saturation. Prescribed tracking performance platoon controllers are designed for the follower vehicles such that they all mutually synchronize and follow the leader vehicle, maintaining the desired intervehicle spacing. Furthermore, based on different definitions of string stability, the chapter gives two platoon control schemes to guarantee string stability of vehicle platoon including leader‐predecessor (LP) and leader‐bidirectional (LB) information flow topologies. The effectiveness of the proposed platoon control methods is evaluated via numerical simulations. It present two simulation studies: Prescribed performance (PP) tracking control with the LP scheme; PP tracking control with the LB scheme.
