This final chapter uses four basic themes to discuss the path forward: Policy (what's not been done and what needs to be done); Standards and Certification (across the multiple missions and types {military, civil, commercial, and consumer flights} essential to ensure interoperability and support competition); Technology (anticipated growth in technology and its implications; technology's key components: the ground control system, platforms, sensors; RPA classes/sizes/missions; testing & evaluation, including the pilot(s)/operator(s); and Selection and Training (critical functions for ALL RPA/RPAS operations: military, civil, commercial, consumer; essential for safety; levels of certification as a function of application classes and weight classes)
The chapter concludes with four recommendations, a table of actions, and concluding remarks containing a list of characteristics central to the multiple uses of RPAS.
