A very important part of a color management system is the monitor. The monitor profiling process follows the concept of the three Cs of color management ‐ calibration, characterization, and conversion. This chapter considers different color management solutions that cover a range of market segments and explores free utilities that are available within the macOS and Windows operating systems. These utilities instruct a user to move on‐screen sliders, and from these actions a monitor profile is created without a measuring instrument. There are some basic settings associated with monitor profiling. The chapter reviews the main issues relating to Internet‐based color management and considers how color‐savvy the main browsers are. Images can be viewed on tablets and mobile devices. One way of communicating and approving color in documents is to use Adobe Acrobat. The chapter also considers ISO 3664 and ISO 12646, which are standards that relate to viewing booths and soft proofing respectively.
