The market for Electric Vehicles has been increasing steadily over the past few years throughout the world. With the increasing popularity of EV, a competitive market between charging stations (CSs) to attract more EVs is anticipated. This competition between CSs will have an impact on the charging prices and electricity demand at CSs to supply EVs. To handle this issue, this paper proposes a real‐time, price competitive market structure based on game theory for CSs considering various practical parameters including waiting time and reputation function. A game theory based CS neighborhood competition model is used to select the charging price that would maximize the profit. A CS selection game theory model is proposed, taking into consideration proximity of the CS to the EV, number of chargers, and a variety of practical and physical parameters. The problem formulation of the price competition game between CSs is solved using a quadratic game model and it has proven and shown that a unique Nash equilibrium exists. The electricity price and revenue of CSs are evaluated using Matlab simulations and the impact of the reputation function and waiting time are demonstrated. Furthermore, a comprehensive sensitivity analysis is conducted to study their impacts on the proposed pricing mechanism.
