This chapter aims to computing the expected pseudo damage for different model assumptions. It describes empirical modelling of the range‐pair distribution is based on a measured load signal. It is also possible to model the load more explicitly, where a road with pot holes is modelled as a standard Gaussian process with added irregularities, representing pot holes, at random locations. The chapter presents the different approaches to approximate the expected damage for Gaussian loads. For non‐Gaussian loads, the upcrossing intensity can be used to approximate the damage. The chapter also presents the methods for estimating the coefficient of variation of the measured damage depending on the limited measurement period. Finally, it discusses the modelling of Markov loads and the computation of their expected damage.
