In this chapter, the authors discuss an observation drone‐type aircraft, for which there are several guidance modes. The first guidance mode is the so‐called “remote‐controlled” mode, which is provided from the ground. The second mode is the so‐called “inertial” mode. In this mode, the control surfaces order maker no longer undertakes the piloting calculations. At any time during these inertial phases, the operator has the option of switching to the “remote‐controlled” mode. Indeed, during probationary tests, it may prove useful to ensure the in‐flight readjustment of the inertial unit following the observation of discrepancies between the simulated flight and the actual flight. Aerodynamic coefficients are used to model aerodynamic forces and the moments they create with respect to the center of gravity. Wind can be introduced into the simulation.
