This chapter uses careful, logical thinking to resolve the four famous paradoxes in data analysis and high school math. The paradoxes relate to Berkeley college admissions, waiting time for bus, average speed of car, and airline load factor. Simpson's paradox takes place when one type of behavior occurs in a total population. The chapter uses PivotTables and PivotCharts to explore Simpson's paradox to resolve the gender discrimination in Berkeley college admissions. It explains the calculations in resolving the waiting time paradox related to bus, the average car speed paradox, as well as the airline load factor paradox. The chapter also describes the steps to show how to use PivotTables to quickly resolve Simpson's paradox.
