Top‐level integration requirements need to be decomposed into more detailed requirements and then be partitioned to the aircraft's subsystems. This partitioning exercise depends on the actual aircraft system architecture and will therefore differ between aircraft. Each requirement placed on the aircraft's subsystems will also need to be proven for correct implementation and the sub‐systems will then be progressively built up into an overall integrated system that provides the required military capability. This chapter discusses requirements decomposition and partitioning, the right‐hand side of the V‐Diagram and the steps taken to develop a safety case and to have a certified system that can be employed by the military user.
