The Articulated Robotic MedProbe (ARM) robotic system is a snake robot platform that features highly articulated multilink catheters allowing minimally invasive procedures in target organs located deep within the body and otherwise difficult or previously impossible to reach through a single port. The ARM contains multiple open device channels to accept a variety of flexible surgical and interventional tools as well as onboard visualization. The platform enables physicians to operate through non‐linear circuitous paths, self‐supported and through a single access point into the body. A first generation robotic catheter system is being tested to facilitate complex intravascular interventions. The ARM snake robot's current outside diameter (12 mm) is adequate for subxiphoid epicardial interventions but smaller sizes are being developed which will enable complex intravascular procedures.
