On the basis of proven success of mitigation of liquefaction by ground modification, transportation and other projects increasingly are being protected by these technologies. The concept of liquefaction and the various ground improvement methods currently in use for liquefaction mitigation are discussed. Case histories of ground modification techniques used for the in situ improvement of potentially liquefiable soils are cited.
