Procedures for evaluating time-independent initial stiffness, at the time of application of load, of high-density polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride gravity-flow drainage pipes with curved-beam sections of production run pipe are proposed as an alternative to ASTM Standard D2412 “Test Method for Determination of External Loading Characteristics of Plastic Pipe by Parallel Plate Loading.” A strategy for predicting relaxation moduli extrapolated to 50 and 100 years is proposed. Laboratory studies are presented and discussed.
