Automotive industry has twenty years history in Taiwan, but for the economical production scale and some technique problems, this system still not well constructed with independency. For Example, the automotive forging crankshafts are imported, very few castings have been manufactured by local factories. This article describes the whole procedure of manufacturing a double-cylinder crackshaft, using the CALMA 7780 CAD/CAM system, study work from 3-D surface model creation. NC tool path generation to the machining of blocker and finisher the EDM electrode. The whole forging part and forging die are designed for the local forging capacity-2 tons air drop hammer, so that, the draft angel in balancing weight and some position has been changed. Originally, this forging crackshaft is imported, and forged by 3500 tons forging press. The material of the developed forging crackshaft is S34C x 90Phi supplied by China Steel Co.
