The influence of Mn and heating conditions on intergranular corrosion susceptibility after brazing of Al-Mn alloys was investigated. Intergranular corrosion susceptibility of Al-Mn alloys is intensified when Mn exceeds 0.3%. A new material, HE alloy, was also studied. The HE alloys contain 0.4 to 0.5% Cu and 0 to 0.3% Mn as main elements. HE alloys are free from intergranular corrosion and are protected from corrosion cathodically by fin material (3003 alloy) and filler (4004 alloy), because HE alloys have greater noble electrochemical potential.
