Experiments were conducted in October 1995 and July 1996 at the Sepulveda Tunnel, Los Angeles, CA, as part of a series of studies measuring on-road emissions from motor vehicles operating in the hot-stabilized mode. A total of eight one-hour runs were performed in 1995 versus eighteen one-hour runs in 1996. Samples were collected in the tunnel and analyzed for approximately 100 non-methane hydrocarbon (NMHC) species up to C12. Emission rates for the speciated hydrocarbons were determined from the difference between tunnel entrance and exit fluxes. The high speed runs of 1996 were compared against the 1995 runs in order to compare emissions from similar speed regimes.
