Pressure/Torque relationships were extracted for a range of Wells turbines operating in various sea conditions. The relationships were obtained using raw data collected from the Islay wave-power station. This data had to be processed and segmented in order to extract constant speed Pressure/Torque relationships for each turbine. The results show that there are hysteresis loops present in the characteristics, and that these loops are evident in the same form for each turbine examined. Despite the non-ideal conditions of a practical turbine it is shown that the results are in agreement with earlier work carried on a single aerofoil under laboratory conditions.
