The effects of the material strength and the thickness on dynamic IC adsorbed energy of the double hat specimen with 80 mm x 100 mm cross section were systematically investigated. The results show that the effect of thickness of the plate on crash energy of the specimen can be sufficiently evaluated as a linear relation for the material with tensile strength of 440 to 780 MPs. Effective width theory successfully estimated the average force for the specimen with various strength of the materials and to investigate the reduction of the weight of the parts while maintaining the crash energy.
