Phenolic resins have been successfully used to manufacture fiberglass filament wound pipe. The modification of phenolic resin with siloxane improves pipe performance. The current study investigated the effect of cure temperature and time on the properties of siloxane-modified phenolic resins and fiberglass pipe. The experiments involved dynamic mechanical analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. Cure was analyzed in terms of the activation enthalpy of the glass transition, damping properties, and dynamic mechanical moduli. It was shown that the glass transition temperature, Tg, of the resin and pipe increased linearly with an increase of cure temperature and that the Tg is greater than the cure temperature. This feature makes siloxane-modified phenolic pipe a suitable material for high temperature application.
