This article presents the properties required of soft magnetic material alloys, describes three families of conventional alloys, and introduces a family of alloys specifically designed by Carpenter Technology to operate in corrosive environments. These families of alloys, called Chrome Core, provide a good combination of corrosion resistance, magnetic properties, cost, and fabrication characteristics.
