This paper describes the development of a suite of modules to simulate the performance of conventional i.c. engine, electric and hybrid electric vehicles when operating over standard driving cycles such as the ECE-15, J227a series etc. The software is based on the road vehicle simulation software JANUS developed previously at Durham. This new version of the software is written in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment and incorporates solutions to many of the problems encountered in the earlier work. In particular the SIMULINK graphical interface allows user defined modules to be more easily implemented.
