In this paper, the control design and the practical implementation of high-performance camera stabilizers are addressed. The first half describes the three-axis stable-platform motion control system and defines the linearizing method to eliminate the interference between the gyroscope's right-angled inertial coordinates and mechanical axis right-angled coordinates. The stabilization accuracy for the yaw axis is 0.072deg p-p, the roll-axis; 0.018deg p-p and the pitch axis is 0.043deg p-p. The second half of the content will describe the two-axis hybrid motion control system which adopts a unique approach to stabilize the Line Of Sight (LOS) by the Gyro Null Tracking (GNT) method for the sake of reducing the weight and the cost. The proposed GNT uses the yaw rotational angle of the directional-gyro as the inertial rotation position error of the gimbal yaw axis, and the gimbal itself tracks the directional-gyro's spin axis. This system achieves the desired light weight and low cost. However the stabilization accuracy is almost the same as three-axes stabilizer.
