This paper reviews some of the findings of a theoretical investigation on the seakeeping characteristics of a trimaran ship. Based on various limiting motion criteria, the seakeeping performance of the trimaran is assessed. It is found that the seakeeping performance is sensitive to the frequency dependent motion criteria such as Motion Sickness Incidence or Subjective Motion Index, which suggests that vertical acceleration criterion may not offer a good picture of operability in seaworthiness assessment.
