The development of the Monobloc tubular shafts (MTS) has focused on an increased range of tuning opportunities and optimum weightsaving. MTS technology has combined the properties of material, cold forming process and heat treatment to an optimized driveline component. Since the whole cross section is heat treated, the employment of small cross sections becomes achievable which increases the range of bending frequencies in the upper and lower band. Thus the design can be tailored to the special acoustic requirements of the vehicle and the customer. Priorities can be given to any resonant frequency, torsional stiffness or simply a maximum in weightsaving. This can be up to two kilograms per carset. MTS technology has proven its reliability at extensive testing on test rigs and in vehicles. The mass production of MTS for front and rear wheel driven and front wheel driven cars is introduced with increasing demand. MTS contributes to improved vehicle comfort and fuel economy.
