It was possible to transfer the optimised process parameters, applying spray technology, to the near-net-shape production of a regeneratively cooled, cylindrical 10-KN combustion chamber and to a combustion chamber with a continuous cross-section transition from a circular to a rectangular shape. A pressure jacket made of alloy 316L was sprayed onto cylindrically wound cooling tubes welded together and made of alloy Inconel 600. The coating thickness between the flange areas amounted to 3 mm. A reinforcement 7 mm to 10 mm thick was added to the flange shoulders. The composite structure was annealed at 1,150 deg C for two hours, furnace-cooled, and then finish-machined. The unproblematic welding of the flanges to the ARS pressure jacket by means of electron beam welding demonstrates the applicability of standard bonding techniques to ARS-sprayed structures. The construction effort was reduced significantly compared to the conventionally made pressure jacket. In contrast to the analogue, electrodeposition-based composite construction method, the production time was cut dramatically from 4 weeks to 3 days, and the manufacturing costs were decreased to 25 %. Machining as well as the number of components were significantly reduced with the ARS version. Merely a higher jig and fixture effort is involved.
