Tractor tyres are noncircular and although the noncircularity is small, it has considerably influence on the stimulation of vibrations. The noncircularity of a tire and the difference in high of one tread bar to its neighbour enlarge the acceleration of tread bar gearing up to 25 % in the half tread bar gearing resonance frequency. The resulting vibration reduce the ride comfort and may have influence to ride safety of tractors with spring mounted axles. To get a good simulation model of tractor tires such effects have to be examined and if possible described by mathematical methods. The research work at the TU Berlin tries to examine the influence of tire hollow to spring and damping rate, the absorption capacity and the effects of stimulating vibrations. With regard to that not only test stands are in use, also field tests of tyres and vehicles are applied.
