This paper presents a semi-active suspension with dynamic absorbers of ground vehicles using fuzzy reasoning. The semi-active suspension is constructed by switching the damping forces generated from shock absorbers such that the mean squares of accelerations of vehicle body at the centre of gravity are minimized under the constraint on the suspension travels and tyre deflections where the suspension travel and its time derivative are treated as the input variables in the fuzzy control rules. The dynamic absorbers are fitted to front and rear axles, and the parameters are determined by the time delay between the front and rear wheels. The simulation results indicate that the proposed semi-active suspension is much improved in the accelerations of vehicle body.
