Daron light weight composites are composites of an expanded Daron hybrid resin and reinforced fibres. The resin is a combined polyester-polyurethane system. The cured hybrid resin has excellent strength, stiffness and heat resistance. If composite parts are designed to withstand flexural loads, the Daron light weight composite typically offers 50 % weight reduction compared to glass reinforced polyester (GRP). This means savings on raw material, easier handling of products and less fuel consumption in vehicles. Daron light weight composite has fire retardant properties without using halogens. It is expanded without solvents, thus having no ozone depletion effect. Closed moulding production of light weight composite parts is an easy process. It resembles established plastics manufacturing processes like RTM or S-RIM and requires limited investments.
