Three-Dimensional (3-D) transonic Blade-Vortex-Interaction (BVI) noise for an advancing rotor is studied numerically. The unsteady transonic Full-Potential Rotor (FPR) code is used for the simulation of the transonic BVI near-field flow. A rotating Kirchhoff's method is used for the extension to the acoustic far-field. The formulation (Farassat's method) is extended for an advancing rotor and an observer moving with the free stream allows a direct comparison with experiments. Test results are presented in this paper for a rotating point source. Results for transonic advancing BVI are presented and various cases are shown. The understanding of the 3-D transonic BVI noise mechanisms and directivity for an advancing rotor are discussed here.
