The driver's seat of the heavy duty truck is usually supported by the spring-damper assembly on the cabin floor. Although the floor vibration is effectively isolated by this suspension, the vibration component around 2 to 3 Hz is not so effectively isolated. To improve the riding comfort of the driver, the transmissibility at the low frequency region should be decreased. In this study, the isolation effects of the active control using a DC servomotor and a ballscrew mechanism, which is installed in parallel to the spring-damper assembly, was investigated. To improve the riding comfort of the driver's seat of the heavy duty truck, a DC servomotor and a ballscrew mechanism are equipped in parallel with the spring-damper assembly. A control system is designed using the optimal regulator theory to minimize the rms acceleration of the driver's hip point. An experimental study was carried out on the shaker realizing actual vibrations of the cabin floor of the truck, and satisfactory results were obtained for the dummy and the real human body.
