The present paper analyses the structural behaviour of a composite material racing-car body on varying the geometric characteristics of the steering-wheel rib. In particular, variations in stiffness and in stress state were analysed using numerical techniques on a model previously calibrated by experimental measurement. In the experimental test, the car body was loaded with a torque suitably applied to the anterior part and the displacements in some points on the floor pan of the car were measured. Using a FEM program, variations in the stress-strain state and in the frequencies of the structure were observed on numerical models with four different types of rib. It was thus possible to identify the model which presented a better distribution of the stress flow.
